ADSORBO
Mix with Zeolite (clinoptilolite)
Zeolites are a group of natural micro-porous minerals
originating millions of years ago after the sediment
formation of volcanic ash in alkaline/salt lakes.
Zeolites are part of the aluminium-silicate hydrate
of alkaline elements (Na, K) and terrosi alkaline (Ca,
Mg), they have an open, crystalline, microporous molecular
structure, characterised by vast internal surface area
made up of tetrahedrons.
The main characteristic of zeolites is the presence
of cavities and holes connected to each other through
canals, forming a real network. The cavities have molecular
dimensions and can absorb the sort of chemicals small
enough to pass through the canals. This particular structural
characteristic give the zeolites exclusive physic/chemical
qualities, through which they can be used as real “molecular
sieves” to purify and to separate substances.
To date we know of 60 natural zeolites and their characteristics
depend both on the diameter and volume of their pores.
Clinoptilolite, due to its physic/chemical characteristics,
appears to be the most suitable zeolite for aquarium
use.
ABSORBO is made up of 90% clinoptilolite and makes an
excellent substrata for the colonies of bacteria in
biological filters; furthermore, thanks to its characteristic
as a molecular sieve, it’s effective in the removal
of organic and mineral substances.
ADVANTAGES
- the permanent removal of ammonia ions (NH4+) and of
ammonia (NH3)
- effective reduction of organic compounds, particularly
phosphates (PO4) and nitrates (NO3) thereby inhibiting
the growth of infesting algae
- high level of water clarity
- elimination of bad odours of the water
MINERAL COMPOSITION
Mixture of zeolites comprising 90% clinoptilolite
DOSAGE
Use 180 ml of ABSORBO per 100 litres of water
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Place the ABSORBO in its mesh and rinse under running
water to eliminate dust and residue. Insert in the filter,
either in the sump or better yet in a zeolite reactor,
making sure that there is a strong flow of water. It
is advisable to shake the product every 2-4 days to
remove accumulated dirt. The contents of a box of ABSORBO
is sufficient to filter an aquarium of about 500 litres
with a normal population. As with all absorbent materials,
the efficiency of ABSORBO reduces with time; in order
to guarantee an adequate and constant filterage, it
is sufficient to replace half of the filtering material
every six weeks.
