STILLA Ultra-porous bio-mineral filter The aquarium is a controlled ecosystem and therefore requires a filtering system to eliminate toxic substances such as ammonia and nitrates, thereby guaranteeing the purity of the water and the well-being of its inhabitants. In order to do this, a family of bacteria (Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter) are used. These bacteria, during the nitrogen cycle, transform the ammonia first into nitrites and then into nitrates, which are far less toxic. Equo has developed STILLA as an ultra-porous, bio-mineral support in which the bacteria can inhabit and carry out their purifying action while receiving the right amount of water and oxygen. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Insert the contents in a wide net and rinse under running water to eliminate any dust or residue. Place in the biological container of the filter. Protect STILLA from dirt by placing it after the mechanical filter. The content of a box of STILLA is sufficient to filter a normally populated aquarium of approximately 100litres. With time, the impurities and the calcium present in the water tend to block the pores of the filter. STILLA has been developed to maintain a high level of filter efficiency, in fact, it should be sufficient to substitute only half of the product every six months.
