\nThe stability of pH value in aquaria is a fundamental prerequisite for the correct management of the aquarium and the health of the organisms living there. The optimal pH range for a marine aquarium is between 7.6 and 8.4, in a reef aquarium should be maintained between 8.0 and 8.4, while in the case of a fresh wateraquarium, the value should be between 6.5 and 7.5. In the sea, pH is kept constant by the presence of enormous, and virtually infinite amount of buffer substances such as carbonates and bicarbonates. In the aquarium, however, these substances tend to decline rapidly, as they are used by the organisms for their metabolic processes. For this reason the pH tends to decrease over time and this tendency must be countered by using a specific product.<\/p>\n
