SUPPLEMENT WITH POTASSIUM
Potassium has a place of absolute importance among the elements necessary for the development of plants; in fact, this element constitutes about 1% by weight (calculated on the dry) of the plants and is second only to nitrogen.

While not directly participating in the constitution of biologically fundamental elements such as proteins, glucides and chlorophyll, Potassium is indispensable as a regulator of physiological processes such as:

• the activation of more than 80 enzymes that participate in photosynthesis and in the synthesis of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids;
• the regulation of osmotic processes in the cellular cytoplasm, and consequently the turgidity of the cell that is of great importance in the life of the entire plant;
• the semi-permeability of cell membranes;
• regulation of the acid-base balance;

Typical symptoms of Potassium deficiency are a stunted growth of the younger leaves, which remain very small, the formation of holes with consequent blackened areas, or the yellowing of the leaf blade and the reduction of the thickness to become transparent.

In the water used for the preparation of the aquarium or the periodic replacement, be it of tap or osmosis, the Potassium is lacking, if not even absent. The risk of incurring shortages is therefore very high, and it is therefore advisable to reinstate this trace element.
