In the previous article we saw how to develop a nano aquarium from the beginning, following the philosophy of E’quo products.
In this third part, however, we will start from the Hardscape, leaving out the various drafting phases, moving directly to planting and the various development phases.
We will focus our attention on the plant response, on the maturation times and on the coexistence of Caridine with the new line of fertilizers for aquariums “NANO”.
The structure of the fund is similar to the other one, same methodology, same products.
Bio-soil, Vigor, Terranera Extrafine size
The Hardscape involves the use of a large stone of the Mantein Gray Stone type, and Ivy roots (taken from nature).
Technical features:
o Tank: 35 x 28 x 30cm, extra-clear glass;
o Lighting: 6500k LED lamp for 8 hours a day;
o Filtering: External closed container filter, loaded with perlon wool and stilla;
o Substrate: Bio-soil, Vigor, Terranera Extrafine size.
Once the Hardscape was structured I carried out the standard maturation of the tank and the filter.
In the first two weeks of the maturation phase I noticed the usual mold forming on the wood.
At the time of planting I vacuumed them up and I never noticed their reappearance.
In the first week I had a phase of whitish water, caused by bacterial flocculation, which then disappeared within two days, a sign that the bacteria had settled between the bottom and the filter.
For the planting phase I chose plants of medium difficulty:
o Elocharis Parvula
o Vesicularia Montagnei
o Riccardia Chaemedrifolia
o Hygrophila Pinnatifida
o Micranthemum Tuberculatum
Once the planting phase was completed, I activated the CO2 24 hours a day, activated the lighting for 6 hours a day and started the administration of Florido A (10 drops every day on the total volume).
After 15 days I decided to include the first guests.
These are 25 Neocaridina Crystal Black, this to verify the feasibility of breeding delicate specimens with the use of a complete fertilization protocol.
So far I have not had any Caridine deaths, except one that came out of the water.
This tank, unlike the other, requires less pruning, or at least less frequent.
From the first week I wanted to test the complete protocol, immediately starting to administer Florido B and Florido C, in association with Florido A.
The vegetative response was superb. In both the root and foliar systems, the plants showed good signs of growth and colour.

Notes: the protocol does not include the use of other products, but if algae appear I recommend using Bio-alganex 1 vial per week, with an attack dose in the first week of 1 vial every 2 days.
In case there is an excess of Nitrate or an excessive population in the tank I recommend using Bio-extra, 1 vial per week in conjunction with Remover NH3.
